They took a fake photo to frame me – Ataa Ayi’s mechanic
In a raw and emotional interview on The Nana Aba Series, Yaw Asante Agyekum, a motorbike mechanic who was wrongfully jailed years ago, has opened up about the chilling moment his life changed forever—all because of what he claims was a police setup.
“I will never forget this,” Agyekum began, his voice steady but laced with pain. “I have never held a gun before.
“I am not an armed robber. But guns were laid before me, and I was given some amulets to wear—just to take a photograph to frame me.”
He recounted how, during his arrest, the only thing he had in his possession was a motorbike key.
Yet at the police station, he says officers placed old weapons in front of him and snapped a photo that would haunt his family and falsely label him as a criminal.
The alleged incident occurred during the tenure of then-Police Commissioner Rose Atinga Bio at Nkawkaw.
“Some officers who knew me even spoke up for me. They told them I wasn’t a criminal,” he said.
“But others were determined to paint me as one.”Agyekum’s story is part of a broader conversation about justice, police accountability, and the long-term trauma experienced by those wrongfully accused.
For him, it’s not just a past event—it’s a scar that hasn’t faded.
