This bullsh*t must stop – Article Wan decries TGMA 2025 Artiste campaign madness
Ghanaian singer and songwriter Article Wan has strongly criticised the ongoing campaigns surrounding the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), particularly the intense lobbying and promotional tactics for the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ title
Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Article Wan expressed deep concern over what he described as a toxic and overwhelming atmosphere that has taken over the award space.
“Truth be told, the recent incessant campaign for this year’s TGMA Artiste of the Year has become so ugly, nasty and very annoying to say the least,” he said, as monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
He pointed fingers at some artistes for appointing public relations officers (PROs) solely to push aggressive agendas on their behalf, a move he believes is worsening the already suffocating tension in the music scene.
“What kind of basabasa, nyama nyama thing are we doing to ourselves to suffocate the industry? Please, they should let us have breathing space,” he bemoaned.
According to Article Wan, while the desire to win is understandable, the extent to which some acts are going — from aggressive social media campaigns to divisive fanbase antics — is unhealthy for the growth of the creative industry.
“There’s only one person that will be given the award. But nowadays, even if you want to come online, then you get angry due to this bullshit campaign,” he fumed.
