Traditional leaders have failed in their role in the movie industry – David Dontoh
Chairman of the National Films Authority Mr. David Dontoh has said the Traditional leaders in the country are sleeping on their role to play in promoting the Ghanaian culture through movies.
According to him, there should be proper documentation of the traditional set up which would seek to preserve and promote the captivating history, culture and heritage of the traditional areas across the country.
“It is strange, you see; most of our traditional councils are asleep, seriously. I haven’t seen any proper documentary of any traditional festival in Ghana made and why that? We should be able to do it”, Ace actor David Dontoh has said on ETV during a studio discussion.
He is of the view that documenting the rich culture of Ghana like festivals alone is a huge sector of the film industry local authorities have not made emphasis on.
“The total holistic documentary of a festival of a traditional area as a film and you would be shocked when that film comes out, how people will watch. Because you are telling them stories and they are seeing themselves in it” he noted.
