Veteran actor Mawuli Semevo is dead
Renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has tragically passed away at the age of 63.
He died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ridge Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for severe burns sustained in a fire accident.
MyNewsGh earlier shared that the veteran thespian was battling for his life after having suffered burns while in his sleep when his house caught fire on Friday, February 7.
According to reports, the burns affected 44% of Mawuli Semevo’s body, and that has led to him sustaining a respiratory disease.
A campaign was subsequently organized by Beyond Burns International is soliciting funds for him.
Executive Director for Beyond Burns International, Judith Cato Addison, speaking in a video that went viral, said, “Guys, this is very serious, from his head to his leg, everywhere caught fire and he’s lost all of his hair on his head and you can tell his whole face is bruised,” she said in a video posted on Facebook while calling for funds for the actor’s treatment.
“Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today, and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident.
“I came here to see him, and his life is hanging in the balance,” Judith said in the video report shared via social media pages.”
