We brought armed security so we could shoot freely

Nollywood actress Bimbo Thomas has spoken about security challenges faced during the filming of Omo Ghetto Part Two in Ebute Metta, Lagos, describing how disturbances on set later escalated into a night-time robbery incident.

According to the actress, filming in Ibua came with familiar risks. “You know boys will come on set to disturb us because it’s a movie and they feel we are depicting their everyday life,” she said during an interview with Chude Jideonwo monitored by MyNewsGh.

Thomas explained that the location was personal to her. “It’s my hood, I grew up there, so they know me. I thought because I was there, they would accord me that honour, but I was wrong,” she stated.

Concerned about safety, the production reportedly brought in armed security. “We brought some security, armed men, to just be there for us so we could shoot freely,” she said.

Despite these measures, she revealed that the situation later deteriorated at night, when members of the cast and crew were staying in nearby hotels.

“Later that night, they came,” Thomas added, describing how the earlier tension on set appeared to spill beyond filming hours.
