We have killed her – Prophecy circulates after Omije Ojumi singer dies
An old prophecy from 2021 has resurfaced online following the death of Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu, popularly known for her hit song “Omije Ojumi.”
A source close to her family confirmed her passing on Tuesday evening. The family has not yet released an official statement, but more details are expected in the coming days.
Before her death, Bunmi Akinnanu had been battling a serious leg condition. For months, fans and well wishers prayed for her recovery. In late 2025, a video from G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan showed her seated with her leg stretched out as prayers were offered for her healing. During the service, a cleric said she had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg, which led to intense prayer sessions.
Following her death, a message described as an old prophecy from 2021 began circulating again on social media. In the message, a Nigerian prophet claimed he had a disturbing vision about her.
“Hello ma, this might sound absurd. You don’t know me and I have never seen you physically, but I am a child of God like you,” he wrote.
He said the vision frightened him deeply. “Mum, in a vision of the night I heard some words in Yoruba, like ‘ti o ba tun raiye wa, if you can come to this world again, you won’t be doing anyhow to them.’ I was very frightened and asked, is she dead? Somebody answered me, ‘Is this not her baby or something? We have killed her,’” he stated.
The prophet said he reached out to her to encourage prayer. “Ma, I know nothing bad will happen to you, but something like this requires prayers. I know you are a prayer warrior, kindly pray,” he wrote.
He added, “That evil conspiracies over you and your ministry, God should fight for your cause. I have raised prayer altars for you, and I believe the vision will not come to pass, if only we will pray.”
