We just kept praying – Actress recalls rescue after armed robbers raid
Nollywood actress Bimbo Thomas says help eventually arrived after armed men allegedly attacked a hotel accommodating members of the Omo Ghetto Part Two cast and crew, following frantic calls for assistance.
She explained that after the intruders initially left, they contacted people they knew. “We called a few people for help to come to our rescue,” she said, adding that someone with local connections alerted the police.
Unknown to them at the time, security forces were already nearby. “We didn’t know they were on ground floor. We just did what we could do at the time,” Thomas noted in an interview with Chude Jideonwo monitored by MyNewsGh.
Gunshots were later heard. “We just started hearing gunshots. We didn’t know if it was from our own team or something else,” she said. She later learned that police teams had arrived and secured the area.
Thomas recalled the shock and confusion afterward. “We were at the reception, about 20 or 30 people. We didn’t know whether to cry or faint,” she said, adding that one person who was shot was rushed to the hospital.
Reflecting on the incident months later, she revealed that those involved were eventually apprehended.
“Months later, we heard that they grabbed all of them. Some were even killed,” she said, admitting she felt relief. “Because at that moment, I wasn’t thinking. I was ready, and maybe the guy would have killed me.”
