Western influence has blinded our leaders – Blakk Rasta rrges

Blakk Rasta has taken a strong stance against Ghanaian leaders, accusing them of failing to set the right example in promoting economic self-reliance and patriotism.
On his Urban Blend show on 3News monitored by MyNewsGh, he expressed frustration over the country’s continued reliance on foreign imports despite having the resources to produce high-quality goods locally.
He particularly lamented the decline of the textile industry, attributing it to a deep-rooted preference for foreign products, which he described as a “sickness no doctor can cure.”
He argued that leadership must begin with personal commitment, questioning how leaders expect citizens to prioritize local goods when they themselves do not. To him, Ghana’s neglect of its own industries stems from a collective mindset that dismisses African-made products, regardless of their quality.
Beyond consumer choices, Blakk Rasta also berated the government’s economic policies, particularly its decision to seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He recalled President Akufo-Addo’s bold promises of “Africa Beyond Aid” and “Ghana Beyond Aid,” only for the government to later turn to the IMF and the World Bank for financial support.
His criticism was blunt as he pointed out the irony in a leader advocating for self-sufficiency but resorting to external bailouts when challenges arise.
In contrast, he praised former President John Dramani Mahama for his consistent commitment to wearing made-in-Ghana clothing, viewing it as a reflection of true leadership by example.
According to him, Mahama has maintained this standard since assuming office, setting himself apart as a leader who truly embraces local culture in both words and actions.
Blakk Rasta believes that Africa’s journey toward self-sufficiency requires more than just political slogans. For him, it starts with leaders fully embodying the change they wish to see—abandoning Western influences and championing their own culture in practice, not just in speeches.
