What crime did you commit so terrible that God refuses to bless you? — Leila Djansi to church members
Award-winning filmmaker Leila Djansi has started an interesting discourse on social media with a thought-provoking message to church members, urging them to reflect on their lives and the role of personal responsibility in achieving success.
In a post addressed directly to Christians as seen by MyNewsGh, she questioned the contrast between the lifestyles of some pastors and their congregants.
“Dear Church Members, when you see your pastors sending their children to the best schools, driving lavish cars, flying business or private, living in palatial homes, and vacationing in beautiful places, while you have to save for a year just to fly coach in a middle seat… how does it make you feel?” she asked.
Djansi challenged the tendency to attribute such disparities solely to divine favor. “Do you simply chalk it up to ‘God blessing them’? If so, what crime did you commit so terrible that God refuses to bless you?” she wrote.
She encouraged believers to rethink their approach to faith and hard work. “Ask yourself: are you going to church waiting for God to deliver, or are you actually using the resources He has freely given to unlock your potential and eat the good of the land? At the very least, to send your children to choice schools too?”
Warning against complacency, she added; “Passivity will destroy the dreams and potential God placed in you. Place your sacrifice on the altar first. God will provide the fire.”
Djansi also drew on biblical imagery to drive home her message. “What’s in your pastors hands? You. God asked Moses, what’s in your hand? Now ask yourself, what’s in your hand? Can God use it? Is it ready to be used? Passivity will ruin you,” she emphasized.
