When God lifts you, you must stay humble
Ghanaian actor Qwasi Blay Jnr has opened up about how he manages public admiration and fame without letting it inflate his ego, insisting that humility remains central to his life and career.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime with Roselyn Felli monitored by MyNewsGh, the actor reacted to compliments about his looks and composure from audience members, describing them as flattering but ordinary.
“I take it as a compliment in good faith,” he said. “I don’t want it to get into my head. I take it like a normal person.”
Pressed on how he prevents such praise from affecting him, Qwasi Blay Jnr traced his mindset to years of hearing similar comments long before stardom.
“My journey, I’ve actually had that since growing up, from JSS to senior high school to university,” he explained. “So I take it as a normal thing.”
He credited his grounded outlook to his faith, stressing that celebrity status does not make him superior to others.
“I’ve come to realise that I’m human. I’m just privileged to be on TV,” he said. “Anybody seated here can be on TV. When God lifts you and puts you on a pedestal, you just have to be humble because it’s not you.”
The actor, who is the son of a pastor, said spirituality plays a major role in how he navigates the entertainment space.
“I attach God to everything I do,” he noted. “God is handling the rest, and He’s handling it beautifully.”
