When one man says ‘buy your ticket and come’ and another says ‘I got this’
For actress Nkechi Blessing, the difference between a man who understands partnership and one who doesn’t can be seen in how he handles the smallest situations. In her recent revelation, she compared two men she has been talking to — one in the UK and another connected to a gig she has in Abuja.
After the UK suitor barely acknowledged her car accident beyond saying “sorry,” Nkechi said she mentally checked out. She added that the same man was the type to say, “Baby, buy your ticket and come. When you come, I’ll pay,” a pattern she calls unacceptable.
But a new interaction with a man in Abuja painted a completely different picture.
Nkechi explained that she mentioned needing a hotel because the event venue was far from town. She recalled telling him, “Okay, I’m going to look for a hotel in town.” But to her surprise, he insisted: “No, I got this.”
She probed further to be sure he wasn’t trying to impress her unnecessarily. “I asked him twice are you sure? I don’t want to be a bother. He said, ‘Come on babe, I got this.’”
When she sent her account details, the payment landed instantly. “He no even waste two seconds,” she stated.
To her, that gesture demonstrated thoughtfulness, not showiness. “He knows I can afford it. But that is what a normal sensible man is supposed to do.”
She concluded that these scenarios help her identify who is worth her time; “Nobody gonna waste my time again.”
“There is this guy in the UK I was talking to, I had an accident and I told him, I was planning on changing my car tyres, He just said okay sorry just get it sorted, That was the last time he heard from me”
