Why Ghanaian stand-up comic actors will collapse their industry very soon
Ghanaian movie director and filmmaker, Socrate Safo has cautioned comic actors about putting their works in the cyber space for free.
In a lengthy write-up on Facebook sighted by MyNewsGh.com’s Amansan Krakye, the veteran movie producer said such moves by comedians will collapse their industry.
Giving a vivid example to buttress his stance, Socrate Safo revealed that those in the movie industry also did the same thing some time back which ended up “killing the game”.
Socrate Safo who is the Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture said putting comic works on YouTube will discourage patronage for live shows at the theatres.
He wrote: “KILLING THE GAME
This is exactly what WE did to the Film Industry some time back
We “killed” Cinema by giving the content to people for free, and “forced” the owners to give the halls to Churches so they can survive.
Today we are crying for Cinemas without thinking about Patronage that will make the investors recoup their investments
I know some ignorant young ones will come and insult me, but I’m putting this one too here for the records
Facebook will remind us in the near future
O.B. Amponsah post his, Lekzy is here, Rumanus will follow, Jasenta’s own will come as for that Clemento Suarez boy I won’t say it.
Anyway let’s watch it for free since it’s a birthday gift
I’m still looking for Uncle Ebo White’s shows in Cyber space, that’s why I keep going to pay at the theater, even when it’s a rerun”.
