Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has called for a more constructive approach to public discourse, emphasizing the impact of online criticism on individuals and their families.

Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue conference in Accra, the dancehall artist reflected on the challenges of navigating public scrutiny in the digital age.

“For people to take their phones and go that far, it doesn’t help the nation.

“You can’t tell me to turn that into positive PR,” Stonebwoy said. “I have had my kids insulted for nothing. That’s why I keep quiet.”

The musician highlighted the limitations of using public relations strategies to address criticism, noting the personal and financial cost involved.

“The people themselves have minds of their own.

“They know what they’re doing is wrong. I cannot go and pay money for PR to turn something around. It costs money,” he added.

“So let us all be positive; we have a nation to defend,” he urged.
