Why I now wear dreadlocks

Stephen Kwabena Siaw popularly known by his stage name Ayesem, a Ghanaian recording artiste, has disclosed why he decided to change his hairstyle and wearing dreadlocks

“The barbering salon inspired my new hairstyle. At times I feel that going for an event to perform I need to go and trim my hair,” he stated in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored.

He added “But I’m the type or someone who doesn’t just go for to shave my head at any barbering salon at all because I have a barber that I trust who knows the style that I want”

He remarked “So when my barber is not around and I need to try some other people… to me I feel that I’m taking a risk and besides I traveled to the UK”.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview, the ‘Koti’ hitmaker revealed that he started doing dreadlocks because when he traveled to the United Kingdom (UK) he didn’t get the right barber.

“I was there for long and I saw that I had a bushy hair but I didn’t get the right barbers in the UK to trim my hair so that was when I started locking it because I felt it’s my natural hair,” he told Amansan Krakye.

He continued “I thought of leaving it after locking my hair and when I return to Ghana and I like it then I will just continue but if I don’t like it then I just cut it off.

“But after doing it I realized that it’s nice up to the level I’ve kept it since it’s my natural hair there’s nothing wrong with it that’s I kept it this way,” he ended on Cape Coast’s Kastle FM.
