Why it’s necessary for a musician to produce their songs

Reggae and dancehall singer, Iwan Suhyini has advised musicians to learn how to produce their songs and also design their own artworks.

However, he cautioned that if a musician doesn’t have the talent to produce their own beats, they can hire the service of a professional producer to do it.

Talking to Amansan Krakye, he said ‘I have been producing my songs for a long time since the mid 90’s and even some of the artworks for my songs I do personally design them.

“We have gotten to a stage where as an artiste I mean individual artiste without a record label you have an obligation to learn to produce your songs.

“Because it’s not bad that you know how to play your own beats and do your own production as an artiste but if you don’t have the talent don’t force yourself to go there,” he said.

He explained on the show “And it helps to reduce certain costs because some track which is not a major track you don’t need to invest much into that one you can explore but the major track, you can rent the service of a professional producer”.
