Why nobody should compare me to Wizkid – May D declares

Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, widely known as May D, has made it clear that he does not want to be compared to any other artist in the industry.

In a post shared on Twitter, he specifically cautioned against any comparisons with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid.

“Don’t ever compare me to anyone in this industry again!! Especially Wiz!! I’m a different breed!!! God’s baby,” May D asserted.

While May D has carved out his own space in the Nigerian music scene, Wizkid remains one of the most celebrated artists globally, making the comparison an ongoing topic among fans.

May D, whose real name is Akinmayokun Awodumila, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and dancer. He rose to fame in the early 2010s and is known for his smooth vocals, Afrobeat-influenced sound, and catchy hooks.

May D first gained recognition when he was signed to Square Records, the music label owned by P-Square (Peter and Paul Okoye).
