Why singer Portable has been declared wanted

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police following a violent altercation with enforcement officers.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command, Portable, armed with a firearm and accompanied by a gang of nine thugs, led a brutal attack on officials who had come to inspect a building under construction.

The incident unfolded when the enforcement officers identified themselves and requested the approved building plan. In response, the father of the property owner informed them that his son was unavailable.

However, moments later, Portable emerged, armed, and initiated the attack on the unarmed officers. Despite sustaining injuries during the assault, the officers managed to escape and quickly reported the incident to the Ota Area Command.

The case was then escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.

In the aftermath of the incident, nine of Portable’s accomplices were arrested, but the singer himself fled the scene and has since gone into hiding.

Despite multiple formal invitations requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Portable has deliberately ignored these summonses without providing any legal representation.

His continued evasion of the police has led to the Ogun State Police obtaining a valid court order declaring him a wanted man.

Ogun State Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola urged members of the public to assist in locating Portable, warning that anyone found aiding or harbouring him would face legal consequences.

“For any relevant information, kindly report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels or police public relations department,” Odutola stated in the announcement.
