Why Wendy Shay deserves Artiste of the Year award
Ghanaian entertainment pundit and artiste manager Kwesi Ernest has explain why Wendy Shay deserves Artiste of the Year for this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking on Onua Show Time, Kwesi Ernest said Wendy Shay has remained strong in the music industry despite years of criticism and trolling on social media.
“If we should talk about musicians in Ghana who have been trolled and bullied on social media, that will be Wendy Shay, aside from the late Ebony Reigns. I’m grateful to God that, among all the trolls, she’s been blessed and moving forward in the music industry,” he said.
According to him, the singer’s work between 2025 and 2026 has stood out and deserves recognition.
“From the year 2025 to 2026, Wendy Shay is the artiste whose work and effort have been seen and appreciated. Her music has been recognized and even children sing her songs,” he stated.
Kwesi Ernest added that her commitment to her craft and the investment she has made in her music should earn her nominations across several categories at the awards.
“I’m telling the TGMAs board that this year’s ‘Artiste of the Year’ award should be given to her. She deserves to be nominated in all categories. She has worked so hard, and she invested a lot of money into her craft,” he noted.
He also said he is proud of Wendy Shay’s progress in the industry and believes her continued dedication could open doors for her on the international stage.
“I’ve seen her growth and I’m so proud of her. I believe she would win BET Awards,” he said, expressing confidence in her future prospects.
