Wives must obey without questioning their husbands
Counsellor George Lutterodt has sparked a heated debate with his comments on wives accommodating their mothers-in-law.
Speaking on The Toast Show, monitored by MyNewsGh, he engaged Abena Moet and other hosts on the topic, “Sharing Your Matrimonial Home with Your In-Laws.”
According to Lutterodt, a dutiful wife should not question her husband’s decision when he informs her of his mother’s visit.
“If you are a very good and obedient wife, your husband will share certain things with you,” he stated.
“For instance, if he tells you, ‘My mother is coming on Tuesday,’ your response should be, ‘Okay, honey. Thank you for informing me.’”
He dismissed any notion of a wife demanding further details. “The moment you ask, ‘How long is she staying?’ you have already failed.
“That is the most foolish question a wife can ask!” he asserted, emphasizing that a woman’s role is to support her husband’s decisions without resistance.
Lutterodt’s remarks did not sit well with Abena Moet, who challenged his stance. “So you’re saying that if my husband tells me his mother is coming on Tuesday, I should just accept it without preparation? What if I have other commitments? Shouldn’t he discuss it with me first?” she argued.
She further questioned Lutterodt’s suggestion that a man who seeks his wife’s consent before inviting his mother is weak.
“By your logic, a husband who respects his wife’s input is not a real man? That’s completely unfair and biased!” she fired back.
