You chose peace over performance
Ghanaian journalist Stephen Adjetey Abban, popularly known as Gabs, has praised actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown for what he described as the courage and emotional maturity shown in her recent public disclosure about her divorce.
Reacting to McBrown’s comments on live television, Gabs said speaking openly about such a personal experience required “strength, honesty, and a level of emotional maturity that not everyone possesses,” particularly in a society where women are often expected to endure marital challenges quietly.
He noted that rumours about the breakdown of McBrown’s marriage had circulated as far back as January 2023 but said many observers chose restraint in the absence of confirmation. According to him, time eventually settled the matter without public confrontation or bitterness.
“Time, as it always does, eventually vindicated what many suspected, without noise, confrontation, or bitterness,” he stated.
Gabs emphasised that his reaction was not driven by vindication or interest in unfortunate news but by long-standing admiration for McBrown’s resilience and personal journey.
He recalled her early struggles, including her deportation from the United States and her entry into acting through the film That Day, describing her rise as evidence that “destiny had something greater in store.”
“What stands out most is not the divorce itself, but the dignity with which you and your former husband handled it,” he said. “There was no public spectacle, no mudslinging, and no unnecessary drama.”
According to Gabs, McBrown’s decision to prioritise peace over public performance has only strengthened public respect for her, adding that her calm and composed posture speaks louder than any explanation.
