You don’t always need to be in the same space to create great music – M.anifest
Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has weighed in on the ongoing debate about in-studio collaborations versus remote recordings.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM monitored by MyNewsGh, he expressed his preference for working directly with artists in the studio but acknowledged that technology has changed the game.
“Being in the studio is preferred, but you see, the world has changed. We can’t be enemies of progress. Technology is there for a reason. Sometimes you can create at a distance and still have that synergy.”
He explained that with tools like FaceTime and other digital platforms, artists can still vibe and maintain creative chemistry even when physically apart.
“Some people don’t have to see each other every day to stay connected. The same applies to music. It’s all about synergy—whether in the same room or miles apart.”
He cited his experience working with fellow musicians, stating that sometimes, he sends out a track without saying much, and the response he gets is a finished verse within minutes.
“I sent a song to Ad and instead of responding with words, he sent me back a sketch of his verse in 20 minutes. That’s creative synergy at work.”
M.anifest’s take reflects the evolving nature of music creation, where physical presence is no longer a strict requirement for great collaborations.
