You’re just making noise at midnight—Captain Smart slams Alpha Hour
Ghanaian media figure Captain Smart has raised concerns over the growing popularity of the religious program Alpha Hour, dismissing it as a futile practice that does little to help its participants.
In a candid statement, Smart criticized the program for what he described as “noise” and a misuse of time by its devotees.
In a recent broadcast, Captain Smart boldly stated, “Participants are merely making noise and squandering their time,” calling into question the impact of the program, especially when it comes to the late-night prayers.
He went on to explain his position, pointing out that while there is certainly a time for everything, he believes Christians often engage in fervent prayers during designated periods without understanding their true purpose.
“There’s a time for everything. Christians, in particular, tend to engage in these fervent prayers during designated periods, creating a ruckus directed at a God who may not even heed their calls,” he remarked.
Smart also expressed concern about the physical toll on individuals who participate in these midnight sessions, arguing that their energy would be better spent resting before facing the demands of the next day.
“These Alpha Hour devotees pray daily at inconvenient hours when they should be resting their exhausted bodies in preparation for the challenges of the morning routine,” he said.
However, he clarified that his issue is not with prayer itself, but with the practice of staying awake at midnight and making noise during these sessions.
“I do not oppose prayer, but the habit of staying awake at midnight and creating noise during prayer will not lead to any meaningful outcomes,” he asserted.
