2021/22 Ghana Premier League matchday 14: Wins for Olympics, Gold Stars as Kotoko opens 7-point gap at the top
Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko have opened a 7-point gap at the top of the Ghana Premier League table as the team pushes to emerge as champions at the end of the season
The team nicknamed the Porcupine Warriors has performed exceptionally well since the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season commenced.
As a result, although the first round of the season is yet to be concluded, they appear to be running away with the league title.
Today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko presented a strong starting eleven to face off with Medeama SC in what was predicted to be a difficult game for both sides.
After a goalless draw at the end of the first half, the home team won the game in the second half when striker George Mfegue scored with a fantastic effort in the 79th minute.
Courtesy of the win and the three points, Asante Kotoko are now on 30 points and with a healthy 10 points over defending champions Hearts of Oak, a 7 points clear of the team in second, Aduana Stars.
Elsewhere at the other match venues, Bibiani Gold Stars fought very hard and ended up beating Legon Cities FC 2-1 at the DUN Park.
Meanwhile, Great Olympics won the battle against King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium when the team cruised to a 2-1 victory.
WAFA SC held Bechem United to a goalless draw, Elmina Sharks shared spoils with Berekum Chelsea, while Eleven Wonders defeated Real Tamale United 1-0.
On Monday, January 24, 2022, Aduana Stars will face off with Dreams FC in the final match of the round.
