2022 FIFA WCQ: GFA boss Kurt Okraku rallies support ahead of South Africa clash
Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku has rallied support for Black Stars ahead of their Group G decider against South Africa in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Black Stars will host Group G leaders Bafana Bafana today at the Cape Coast stadium in their final group game.
Milovan Rejavac’s side needs to win by two or more goals in order to finish above South Africa on goal difference.
“The technical team has been working overtime given the tiredness of the schedule and I believe that the entire country will be behind the team today,” Okrakua said ahead of the game.
“We knew to win our game against Ethiopia because pair the permutations we knew that, avoiding a defeat would probably make the journey easier than when the team is defeated so when at the end of the game, the scoreline was 1-1 we knew we have made it the way we wanted, for this reason, we then shifted our focus on South Africa’s game.
“Because whether we won 10-0 in Ethiopia or 1-0 in Ethiopia we still have needed to win today’s game. “So we are very clear as to what to do.
He added, “The boys are ready to do their very best for our dear country, the technical team is ready and we are ready and I’m sure you are also ready, so we are in the mood to make ourselves proud and to ensure that we put our right foot into the last line for qualification to the world cup.”
The Black Stars failed to reach the World Cup in Russia in 2018, while South Africa have not played at the tournament since hosting the first finals in Africa in 2010.
