2022 FIFA WCQ: Milovan Rajevac hands maiden Black Stars call-up to Felix Afena Gyan
Milovan Rajevac has added Felix Afena Gyan, a Roma youth star, to his 28-man team for this month’s World Cup Qatar 2022 Group G games against Ethiopia and Bafana Bafana.
The Serbian coach has given the 18-year-old, who made his senior debut for AS Roma against Cagliari last month, his first call-up.
On 13 March 2021, Afena-Gyan signed for Serie A side AS Roma. He was assigned to the primavera squad immediately. Gyan was a substitute in Roma’s 2-1 defeat to AC Milan on 31 October 2021.
Felix Ohene Afena-Gyan was over the moon after making his senior debut for AS Roma in Serie A.
Speaking about his debut the sensational youngster said:
”First of all, I will like to say thank you to Roma and everyone for the opportunity they gave me. I am very happy,” Afena-Gyan told AS Roma TV.
”The coach believed in me that’s why he sent me to the field and due to that I didn’t want to prove him wrong or prove myself wrong. So I need to work hard and have a strong mentality and give my best on the field to support the team.”
“I thank everyone, I dedicate my debut to everyone who supported me and who’s still supporting me. I thank the club, everyone in Roma, my mum, everyone who’s in Ghana, “mum, I love you”. I love my club, my agent, players, I love everyone, I thank everyone,” he ended.
