2022 FIFA WCQ: Player ratings for Ghana v Zimbabwe

Ghana’s Black Stars defeated the Warriors of Zimbabwe 3-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday evening.

The result means Ghana is still second in Group G with six points, South Africa still leads the group with seven points.

Jojo Wollacott – 5

The Swindon Town goalkeeper playing for Ghana for the first time didn’t finish the game with a clean sheet.

He displayed a varied range of passing from long balls to short passing

He also took command of his box instruct the defenders in front of him and was alert to make a point blank safe in the second half.

Daniel Amartey – 5

The Leicester player had a fairly good game for the senior national team. Though he offered nothing offensively, he was solid defensively.

Baba Rahman – 5

The left back was confident with his touches, tackles and movement upfront.

Jonathan Mensah – 5

The most experience member of the defenders had little to do today as the opposition attackers were not clinical.

Alexander Djiku – 4

The Strasbourg defender had little to today in the first half but was in trouble for tripping a Zimbabwe player in the box which resulted in a penalty for Zimbabwe.

Thomas Partey – 5

The Arsenal midfielder like captain Ayew did the simple things in midfield. His long passes was a problem for Zimbabwe to deal with.

Fatawu Issahaku – 3

The Steadfast youngster playing his first game for the national team showed flashes of brilliance, he was not fit enough to play the entire game. His balls forward were sometimes wayward.

Mohammed Kudus – 6

The scorer of the first goal at the Cape Coast Stadium. The creative midfielder was very creative and energetic today. He was everywhere from helping the defenders to sending through balls

Jordan Ayew – 4

The Palace player who was expected to be a creative outlet for the team failed to do anything creative. His goal drought continues for club and country.

Kamaldeen Suleman – 4 

The winger was full of running, he used his dribbling abilities to open the defensive shape of the Warriors of Zimbabwe but he lacked composure in front of goal.

Andre Ayew – 5

The Captain always delivers for Ghana he was silent throughout the first half doing the simple things in midfield and the attacking areas. He popped up to score the game’s third

Benjamin Tetteh – 4

The striker couldn’t impact the game positively when he was subbed on in the 60th minute

Kofi-Kyereh – 4

The was brought on to replace the misfiring Kamaldeen, he helped put a check on the Zimbabwe team in midfield.

Baba Iddrisu – 4

He came on to replace the tired debutant Fatawu Issahaku. He helped out when the team was defending.

Samuel Owusu and Yaw Yeboah – couldn’t do much when they were brought on
