2022 FIFA WCQ: South Africa aim to give Ghana heartbreak in final Group G encounter
South Africa have set sights on giving Ghana a heartbreak in the final Group G encounter today at the Cape Coast stadium.
On Thursday, South Africa beat 1-0 Zimbabwe 1-0 to put more pressure on Ghana, who are the only side in Group G that is mathematically still in contention for the final and third round of the African qualifiers.
Bafana Bafana are 1st with 13 points, three points above Black Stars, who drew 1-1 with Ethiopia on Thursday.
South Africa head into the final group clash against the Black Stars, with coach Hugo Broos’s side needing just a point to advance to the third round.
Ghana on the other hand, can still go through with a 1-0 win over South Africa as this will equal the goal difference, as both teams have scored six goals.
Prior to Thursday’s penultimate round of matches, Zimbabwe were the only side that Bafana had not beaten in the group.
The two sides yielded a goalless stalemate in Harare when the qualifiers resumed in September.
Bafana beat Ghana, with other wins coming from South Africa’s back-to-back games against Ethiopia last month.
