2022 World Cup qualifiers: We played against more experienced Black Stars - Hugo Broos

Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa, has admitted that his side played against an experienced Black Stars team.

The Bafana Bafana were stunned by Ghana in the final round of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with Andre Ayew scoring on the 33rd-minute.

The two countries shared 13 points apiece atop of Group G after six games but Ghana entered the final stage of the qualifiers with seven goals as against South Africa’s six.

“We came here to try to play a draw and maybe win,” the Belgian trainer said after the game.

“But for sure when you are so close and in the position we were, we try to do it.

“But again we played against a very strong team and a team with ten times more experience than we have.

“We are a new team and you can’t blame South Africa for not to qualify for the next round.

“But you can be sure that in the next qualifiers for the AFCON, that we will try to qualify us,” Broos said.

The win mean Ghana have booked a place in the playoffs scheduled for March 2022.
