Accra and Tamale Stadiums to be closed for repairs by the NSA – Reports

According to reports, the National Sports Authority (NSA) is considering closing the Accra and Tamale Sports Stadiums for emergency repairs.

These two stadiums are in very poor condition and are completely deteriorated; they must be restored as soon as possible to avoid any unpredicted catastrophes.

The Accra Sports Stadium is the most used facility in the league, with clubs such as Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities FC all honoring their home matches there in the current season, as well as some other clubs in the lower divisions, which means they will all have to find another venue for their subsequent home matches.

The Aliu Mahama Stadium, which is home to Real Tamale United and Tamale City FC, is also on the list to be closed down, owing to poor condition of the pitch.

Confederation of African Football this year has been banning teams from playing in certain stadiums on the continent due to poor state of the stadiums.

Ethiopia couldn’t play against Ghana at home during the 2022 world cup qualifiers due to a ban on their match venue. CAF stated that the venue was in a very poor state.

National Sports Authority (NSA) is taking steps to get Ghana’s stadiums in solid condition to avoid a ban by CAF.
