All Liverpool affair in Group D for the 2023 Afcon qualifiers

After Egypt was put in the same group as Guinea on Tuesday, Mohamed Salah will play Liverpool teammate Naby Keita in qualification for next year’s African Cup of Nations.

Group D includes Malawi and Ethiopia, but the main events will be the clashes between Egypt and Guinea.

Senegal, who defeated Egypt in this year’s final, is in Group L with Benin, Mozambique, and Rwanda.

The qualifications begin in June, the 2023 African Cup will be contested in Ivory Coast in June and July of next year, marking the first time the continental tournament has been held in consecutive years.

After playing each other at home and away, two teams from each of the 12 qualifying groups will qualify. The host Ivory Coast is taking part in the qualifications, as is usually common in Africa, but its position at the cup next year is guaranteed, hence the highest-placed team from that group will qualify.
