Andre Ayew wants to follow in the footsteps of Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan
Ghana captain Andre Ayew says he keeps working to follow in the footsteps of legendary striker Asamoah Gyan after reaching 100th cap with the Black Stars.
The Al Sadd star converted a penalty in the 33rd minute to ensure Ghana tops Group G on his 100th appearance for the senior national team on Sunday against the Bafana Bafana.
Ghana were tied on points with South Africa but advanced on goals scored.
Ayew is currently the second most capped Ghanaian player in history trailing Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan.
At the post-match conference, Ayew said he keeps working to follow in the footsteps of the former Sunderland forward.
“It’s a great feeling to get to 100, I think am the second after my big brother Asamoah so I keep working to follow his footsteps and try to make the nation proud. I think that scoring is important to win because if you score and you don’t have the win you are not happy” he said
Andre Ayew has capped 100 times scoring 22 goals since his debut in 2007 against Senegal.
Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan has racked up 51 goals in 109 appearances.
