Appoint next Black Stars coach based on competence; not colour – Parliamentary Committee on Sports to GFA

The chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee On Sports, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu has charged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint a new Black Stars head coach based on competence and not on colour.

Currently, a three-member committee of the Ghana FA is in talks to appoint a new head Coach to replace Coach CK Akonnor who was sacked by the football association on Monday.

According to Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu, the GFA must ensure it appoints a competent coach without discriminating on colour.

“We are only looking for competent coach not by colour, creed or whatever. We are looking for someone who can help Black Stars to be solid again for us to get our wins whether he is a Ghanaian or a foreigner,” the chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports has said in an interview.

He added, “If the GFA is about to make changes to appoint a new coach after CK Akonnor then my advice for them is to sit down and plan well because the applications are still coming, they can receive all the applications alright but they should analyze it and check the track records of those applicants, their current issues, how they can address and solve all the challenges before they can be selected. This is what I have for them.”
