Asante Kotoko, PFAG and ARFA pay last respect to late Abukari Garba

Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko Dr Kwame Kyei on Sunday January 31, 2020 joined CEO of the Club Nana Yaw Amponsah and scores of mourners to pay their last respect to former Ghana and the club’s forward Abukari Garba.

 

The funeral took place at Akwatia Line at the resident of the deceased.

Others included members of the Ashanti Retired Football Association (ARFA) members led by Golden Boy Abdul Razak, Alhaji Yahaya Jibril, Ernest Appau and Malik Jabir.

 

The Professional Football Association of Ghana ( PFAG)  were also represented by Yussif Chibsah and Ibrahim Tanko.

Former management members Ali Maradona and Perusha were also present together with the acting communication officer of the club David Obeng Nyarko.

The former Asante Kotoko and  Black Stars legend Abukari Garba died on (January 23, 2021) afternoon after a battling a long illness.

He was part of the team that won the Africa Cup for Kotoko for the first time in 1971 and competed for Ghana in football at the 1968 Summer Olympics and the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Affectionately called Goal Namef3f3, Gariba died at the age of 81 in Kumasi.
