Asante Kotoko’s transfer ban has been lifted by the Player Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday afternoon, following a successful appeal.

The Porcupines were punished by the Player Status Committee in January which prohibited them from making new signings until the summer of 2022.

They were found to have breached four of their former l players’ contracts by the Ghanaian football governing body.

After a successful appeal by the club, the Player Status Committee finally decided to lift the ban to free up the club to be able to make player purchases this transfer window.

“It will be recalled that the quartet petitioned the PSC on the Club’s unilateral termination of their contracts and won at the PSC level, which resulted in Asante Kotoko SC being asked to pay the outstanding salaries, signing on fee of the players as well as suffer a one window transfer ban.

In the instant decisions of the Appeals Committee, the transfer ban has been overturned but the payment of outstanding salaries and signing on fees for the four players were upheld” – Excerpt from the statement of the Ghana Football Association.

Kotoko will now be able to make signings to boost the squad ahead of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
