Ashantigold coach Ernest Thompson wants Ghanaian clubs boycott Africa competitions over poor officiating
Head coach of Ashantigold Ernest Thompson has called on Ghanaian clubs to boycott Africa inter club competitions due to poor officiating.
His comment comes following Hearts of Oak defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca last Sunday.
The Phobians dropped to the Confederations Cup following their elimination from the Champions League by Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club. Wydad Casablanca eliminated Hearts of Oak 6-2 on aggregate.
In an interview, the former Ebusua Dwarfs coach noted Ghanaians clubs have suffered in Africa due to bad officiating and has entreated the clubs to boycott inter club competitions.
“I was very surprised but not too surprised with Hearts of Oak’s defeat. I watched the game and I think it is about time we boycott the CAF matches for now because I was not impressed with officiating”
“I wasn’t happy with what the Gabonese referee did to Hearts of Oak, the penalty calls and two glaring offsides was allowed against the Ghanaian club” he said.
Hearts of Oak have been paired against Algerian side JS Souara in the Confederations Cup.
