Beitar Jerusalem signs striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom

Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has agreed to join Israeli giants Beitar Jerusalem, according to Ghanasoccernet.com.

The 28-year-old inked a one-year contract with the capital-based squad on Tuesday night after completing a required physical.

He joins Beitar Jerusalem on a free transfer that guarantees a large income after departing Polish top-flight team Gornik Zabreze at the end of last season following a six month spell.

Boakye secured the agreement just hours after Ghanasoccernet.com announced the imminent deal for the former Juventus striker.

“Beitar Jerusalem is pleased to announce the signing of the offensive striker Richmond Boakye, who signed with the team for one season with an option for another season,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday night.

Boakye is the second Ghanaian to join Beitar Jerusalem this summer, following international teammate Ewdin Gyasi, who arrived two weeks ago.

Boakye left Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade after his contract expired in December of last year.

He is the third foreign player in the club’s history to have scored the most goals.

Boakye, often known as ‘Bocko,’ scored 60 goals in over 100 matches for the Red Star Belgrade.

During his four-year stay with the club, he won two Serbian Premier League titles.
