CAF President Motsepe holds key meeting with Cameroon Prime Minister during working visit in Cameroon

CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe on Friday visited Cameroon, the country that will host next year’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in January 2022.

Dr Motsepe, accompanied by CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba and FECAFOOT President, Seidou Mbombo Njoya, met with Cameroon Prime Minister, His Excellence Chief Dr Joseph Ngute together with Sports Minister and Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi at the Prime Minister’s residence.

The meeting discussed a number of important matters around the preparations for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, infrastructure, the state of readiness of the country and football matters in Cameroon and Africa.

President Motsepe praised Cameroon government’s commitment in delivering what he believes will be ‘the most successful Africa Cup of Nations in modern memory.’

He said: “We had wonderful discussions with the Prime Minister, the Sports Minister and the leadership of football in Cameroon. We are making good progress because our ambitions and expectations are very high. These on-going discussions to keep track on progress are important. There is a team from CAF ed by the General Secretary Veron (Mosengo-Omba) that is based in Cameroon that is working very close with the Local Organising Committee, the government and FECAFOOT. I’m confident that we are making good progress and I’m impressed with what I have seen. I would like to thank the Prime Minister for his commitment in ensuring that we will meet our objectives.”

President Motsepe will return in Cameroon in November 2021 for another working visit to check on the progress.
