Coach Milovan Rajevac admits Ethiopia deserved a point

Milovan Rajevac, head coach of the Black Stars, said that Ethiopia outclassed his team in Thursday’s 1-1 tie at Orlando Stadium.

The powerful Walias battled back from a goal down to earn Ghana a point in a must-win encounter.

Ethiopia had the better opportunities in the first half, but captain Andre Ayew’s spectacular freekick strike proved decisive.

The second half was all Ethiopia, and their pressure paid off, they got the anticipated goal after Getaneh Kebede capitalised on defender Joseph Aidoo’s error.

“First, I want to congratulate my boys for fighting hard, and I want to congratulate the Ethiopian team for a really good performance today. They deserve this result; we had some problems at our defence, especially today we made some mistakes, so after all, everything will be decided on Sunday.”

“For us, it is important to win our next match on Sunday with two-goal differences if we want to qualify for the final round of the qualifications for the World Cup,” he added

Ghana has to win against South Africa on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium, South Africa needs just a draw on November 14 in order to advance to the playoffs.
