CONFIRMED: Ghana to play two friendly games in June

The Black Stars of Ghana be playing two friendly games in June during the international window break, the Ghana FA has confirmed.

The Black Stars were scheduled to play two games during the period in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers until a CAF directive rescheduled all qualifiers to September.

The Ghana Black Stars will, therefore, be engaged in two games in preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

In a statement on its website, the Ghana FA announced that despite not playing the two qualifying games for the 2022 World Cup, there will be two friendly games to be played during the period.

“Coach Akonnor will name Ghana’s squad for two friendly matches that have been lined up for the team in the June International window,” the statement read.

“The friendly matches replace the FIFA World Cup qualifiers that got postponed last week.

“Coach Akonnor and his Technical team will use the games to further assess players ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“Ghana was scheduled to engage Ethiopia and South Africa in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Cape Coast and Johannesburg respectively,” it added.
