Crystal Palace in talks with Ghana FA over Jordan Ayew arrival date in AFCON training camp

Premier League side Crystal Palace is in talks with the Ghana Football Association about the arrival of Jordan Ayew for pre-AFCPN camping in Qatar,

The Black Stars have already started camping in the Asian country ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The much-anticipated tournament has been scheduled between January 9 and February 6, 2022 in the Central African country.

Jordan Ayew was supposed to leave on December 27 and join Black Stars camp in Doha, Qatar for preparations.

However, CAF has said players with official matches between December 27 and 3 January 2022 can join their respective national teams after the last match during this period.

According to Palace assistant trainer Osian Robert, the club is in talks with the Ghana FA about when the Ghanaian forward will join his teammates.

Palace will miss trio of Jordan Ayew, Wilfred Zaha and Cheikhou Kouyate for the AFCON tournament.

Osian Roberts says the three players may depart at different times, but that is being negotiated with their national teams.

“We are not sure when everybody is going to leave, there’s an ongoing discussion between the players and the federations and managers.

“We are still seeking clarification on when they will go. Some may go earlier than others.”

Ghana is among the 24 country’s that will partake in the continental showpiece in the Central Africa country.

The four-time Africa Champions are hoping to end their trophy drought in Cameroon after last winning it in 1982.

Black Stars have already started camping for the 2021 AFCON in Doha, Qatar.

They will play two games to give coach Rajevac the opportunity to assess his squad.

Ghana have been paired with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros at the 33rd AFCON tournament.

Black Stars playing their first match on January 10 against Morocco.
