Daniel-Kofi Kyereh traveled back to Hamburg soon after Ghana’s unexpected elimination from the Africa Cup in Cameroon. The 25-year-old, though, was not utilised in the derby and was not even included in the team.

Coach Timo Schultz (44) explained this before kick-off: “He arrived on Thursday morning in a condition where it would not have made sense to use him. He didn’t feel so good after the long journey. He should first calm down.”

Kyereh, in reality, had a night trip from Yaounde to Europe and could only fly to Hamburg in the early morning.

As a result, the German born Ghanaian, without whom St. Pauli had gone two games without a win, was reduced to the role of a spectator. He is expected to return to training on Tuesday.
