Defender Tariq Lamptey makes a strong return

At a Fans’ Forum, head coach Graham Potter provided an optimistic report on Tariq Lamptey’s fitness.

The 20-year-old defender hasn’t played since December of last year, when he suffered a severe hamstring injury in a goalless draw with Fulham.

Lamptey has been working his way back to full health in recent weeks, and Potter anticipates that he will be available before the end of the month.

He said, “Tariq played in an internal 11 v 11 game on Tuesday for 20 minutes and came through fine, he did really well.

“Without putting a definite time scale on it, there’s a possibility he could be involved in the Carabao Cup game against Swansea City on 22 September,” he added.
