Degerfors IF Sporting Director Werner commends new signing Joseph-Claude Gyau
Degerfors IF Sporting Director Patrik Werner has lauded the signing of American-born Ghanaian defender Joseph-Claude Gyau from FC Cincinnati in the USA.
The 29-year-old joins the club on a two-year deal after successful negotiations. He is currently in Cincinnati and will arrive in Sweden on Saturday.
He will commence training with his new teammates on Monday, after completing his medical.
“An interesting and well-qualified player who can play on both sides. He has several top qualities, but speed is what stands out,” Patrik Werner said.
“It feels incredibly good that we were able to tie him to us.”
The experienced defender is expected to make his debut against IF Elfsborg on March 6.
Gyau has previously featured for TSG Hoffenheim, St. Pauli, Borussia Dortmund II, Sonnenhof Großaspach and MSV Duisburg in Germany.
He returned to the United States in August 2019 to continue in the MLS with Cincinnati.
Gyau has made four appearances for the USA, having featured for the youth sides of the United States.
