Ex-Ivory Coast striker Solomon Kalou charges South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to fight to qualify for 2023 AFCON
Former Ivory Coast striker, Solomon Kalou has charged the South African national team to do everything possible to secure a place at the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Bafana Bafana missed out on qualification to the last edition of the AFCON and as a result, missed all the action in Cameroon.
Last Tuesday at the end of the draw for the group stage of the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON, South Africa was drawn in Group K to face Morocco, Zimbabwe and Liberia.
Speaking on what will be a tough group for the Bafana Bafana, Solomon Kalou has urged the side to come out of its ruins.
“Bafana Bafana need to qualify because the most difficult thing is qualification. Once you have qualified everything is open and you have a chance,” the ex-Ivory Coast goal machine said.
Kalou continued, “SA is such a big football country and I think the Bafana need to come back to a level where they belong. This qualifying campaign must take them there.”
The group stage of the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON is scheduled to commence next month.
