Fee disagreement stops Kevin-Prince Boateng from appearing on Pro7
Hertha BSC and Union Berlin faced off in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup in mid-January. Around two weeks later, another Berlin derby may have been aired on the TV show “Schlag den Star.”
According to “Sport Bild,” Kevin-Prince Boateng was supposed to compete against Max Kruse on the “Pro7” program. The presenter had questioned the two football pros about the cup derby.
Kruse, who was still under contract with Union Berlin but has since joined VfL Wolfsburg, is alleged to have agreed directly with the club. Boateng obtained consent from Hertha as well, but according to the report, he and “Pro7” could not agree on a fee.
Instead, Kruse competed against TV presenter Steven Gatjen and won. He later had a funny exchange with Kevin-Prince Boateng on social media.
Kruse had posted a video simulating a phone call with Boateng. “Prince? I heard you’re not in the mood for Union? No problem at all – international isn’t for the blue anyway. Ring hit!”, Kruse directed a clear dig at Hertha.
Boateng had previously made fun of Kruse, ignored an alleged call from the striker and instead said for the Instagram story: “No, I’m not here anymore. I signed with Hertha. I don’t want to, with you and with Union to play.”
“Oh, Max, my friend. There’s always a lot of talk in Berlin and a lot of rumours. But one thing interested me. You really have the opportunity to play in the most beautiful stadium in Berlin for the Europa League. I wish you a lot Good luck, look forward to it, because you won’t be playing in such a big stadium for a long time. See you then,” teased the 34-year-old. Accompanied by the club anthem “Just home”.
