FIFA refers South Africa replay request against Ghana to Disciplinary Committee

World football governing body, FIFA has referred South Africa’s replay request for the match against Ghana to its Disciplinary Committee.

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has this week filed a complaint to FIFA indicating that they were cheated during the crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Ghana last weekend.

As a result, SAFA wants the result of the match to be annulled and the two sides made to replay the game.

In a letter from FIFA acknowledging receipt of the protest from SAFA, it says it has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Committee.

“Furthermore, we wish to inform the South African Football Association as well as the Ghana Football Association that the above-mentioned protest will be submitted to a member of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on 23 November 2021 for consideration and decision in accordance with art. 14 (9) of the Regulations FIFA World Cup 2022M, Preliminary Competition as well as arts. 46 and 54 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FD),” part of a FIFA letter has said.

Meanwhile, FIFA has given the Ghana FA the chance to respond to the protest before it sits on the case.
