Former Ghana and Chelsea star Essien reveals Anfield is his favourite stadium

Former Ghana and Chelsea star, Michael Essien has disclosed that Anfield is his favourite stadium.

Essien spent time in England playing for Chelsea between 2005 to 2014 where he was one of the key members of the team.

The 38-year-old helped the club win the Premier League in 2006 and 2010, as well as three FA Cups and one League Cup. He won the UEFA Champions League in 2012, while also placing as runner up in the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

Essien played for several clubs in Europe and in some of the biggest stadia including the Santiago Bernabeu as well as the San Siro but chose Anfield as his best playing grounds.

“My favourite stadium I always felt better playing there was Anfield,” the former Ghana midfielder told Premier League Productions.

“The chants by the fans is always amazing and my first-time experience is still in my memory.

“It is just a nice stadium to play there,” he added.
