Ganiyu Ismael made a case for local players – Yussif Chibsah
Ghana and Kotoko midfielder Yussif Alhassan Chibsah has hailed Abdul Ganiyu Ismael for his impressive performance against South Africa in Johannesburg last Thursday.
The Asante Kotoko defender was handed a debut start for the senior national team and he didn’t disappoint on the day.
The defender put up a great shift at the back with some clearances and interventions to stop the South Africans.
Ganiyu after the game received a lot of praises from football fans and teammates following a tremendous performance at the back.
Speaking to Nhyira FM on the performance of the player, the FIFA licence agent lauded the performance of the former Karela United defender stating he made a case for the local players.
“Ganiyu made a clear case for local players. This shows local players will be able to fight for positions when they are given a fair opportunity in the senior national team.”
“Some of us played the Black Stars as local players and Ganiyu has affirmed that. It needs a lot of hardwork. Ganiyu and Abalora have proven that some local boys can compete.”
Ganiyu was among the three local players to start the game against South Africa, the other two are Razak Abalora and Kwame Opoku.
