Ghana FA starts discussion with Black Stars over World Cup bonuses

Ghana is returning to the global showpiece after missing out in the 2018 edition held in European country, Russia, however, the Ghana Football Association intend to strategize to avoid 2014 debacle in Qatar.

The Black Stars secured qualification to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria after edging the Super Eagles on penalties.

With few months to commence the tournament in the Asian country, Footballghana.com has learnt the Ghana Football Association has started discussion with Black Stars players over World Cup bonuses.

They have begun talks with the players to sort out monetary issues before the start of the biggest soccer mundial.

Officials are also set to implement a code of conduct which they hope will prevent future rows with the national team over bonus payment.

This is to ensure the 2014 World Cup debacle in Brazil is not repeated in Qatar.

The Black Stars players boycotted training in protest against unpaid money during the tournament.

The players were ready to boycott their last group game against Portugal because of the unpaid money.

The protest led to the sacking of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari during the tournament due to indiscipline

This force the government to fly a whopping $3m (£1.8m) in cash to Brazil.

However, the Kurt Okraku led Ghana FA in the bid to get rid of such incident have started negotiating with the leadership of the players to sort out monetary issues before the tournament.
