Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo dreaming of following in the footsteps of Black Stars great Asamoah Gyan
Bristol City forward, Antoine Semenyo has opened up on his ambition to follow in the footsteps of legendary Black Stars forward Asamoah Gyan.
The forward was invited for the playoff round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but could not honour the invitation after suffering an injury setback.
Now fit and banging in the goals in England, Antoine Semenyo is hoping the opportunity will come again later this month during the international break.
Speaking to Accra-based Happy FM, the young striker says he wants to be like former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.
“I would say Asamoah Gyan. As a young boy watching Ghana, he was obviously the person everyone looked up to. He was the striker that scored the goals and as a young player for me, I also want to score goals as well so every time I watched him he scored goals and I was like, ‘I want to be like him,” the England-based attacker said.
Ghana is set to start the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON later this month. The first match of the campaign will be against Madagascar in Ghana.
